Slovenians fear price hikes, incorrect rounding-up of prices and
loss of purchasing power after the euro replaces the Slovenian tolar
on 1 January 2007, show the results of a survey, commissioned by the
central bank.
According to the survey, a third of Slovenians believe that the
euro switch will bring positive results for them, while 25% beg to
differ, the Bank of Slovenia has said. The results also showed that
80% of the respondents believe they have enough information about the
euro while almost 90% also know of the correct date of the
switch. Those polled would, however, also like to know more about the
measures taken to prevent unjustified price hikes, the tolar-euro
exchange rate and the rules for the rounding-up of prices.
The survey was carried out between 19 and 22 September by the
Ninamedia agency and included 1,000 respondents.
