The prices of products and services that the Slovene Consumers'
Association is monitoring under the Pricewatch project remained mostly
unchanged between May and August, the association announced. According
to Breda Kutin, the head of the Slovene Consumers' Association, prices
of 300 surveyed goods rose by 0.06% on average in the May-August
period. Since February, there has been a 0.6% rise in prices, Kutin
added.
Although the project that was launched in a bid to prevent
unwarranted price hikes when the euro is adopted in Slovenia at the
beginning of next year, has found little changes in prices on average,
it has come across some marked increases in the price of certain
fruits and vegetables.
Moreover, bars have raised prices of coffee; Kutin says that prices
around Slovenia are rising to stand at around one euro for a
cappuccino. On the other hand prices of most public services have
stayed unchanged. However, this is no reason for joy, as increases in
this area are most likely to occur in the second half of next
year.
She also said there have been a lot of complaints regarding prices
of car parks in Ljubljana. Some of the most centrally-located public
car parks have risen their prices by at least 33%, she pointed
out.
