International Conference on EuroSlovenija, 17 March 2006 The European Commission and the Slovenian authorities organised a key conference on governance in the European Economic Monetary Union (EMU) and on Slovenia's preparations for adopting the euro. Joaquin Almunia, European Economic and Monetary Commissioner made the keynote address while Prime Minister Janez Jansa gave the opening speech. Other speakers included Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk, the President of the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, Pervenche Beres and the Governor of the Bank of Slovenia, Mitja Gaspari. The closing speech was delivered by Commissioner for Science and Research Janez Potočnik.
